Staying With Us

September 14 2012

Medications

We request that you do not bring medications from home to the hospital.  If you do bring medications with you, please inform your nurse.  You will be asked to send your medications home with a family member.  If this is not possible, the nurse will bag and list your medications and send them to the hospital pharmacy for safekeeping.  The nurse will retrieve these medications for you at discharge.

Personal items

The hospital will provide you with essential personal care items, but you may wish to bring your own gown or pajamas, slippers, robe and toiletries, including toothbrush and toothpaste.

Any personal electrical devices must be approved by Facilities Management prior to use by calling (504) 826-9450.

Valuables and personal property

We request that you do not bring valuables to the hospital.  Please send jewelry, credit cards, money and other valuables home with a family member.  If this is not possible, there is a safe for your use.  To avoid loss or damage of your personal property such as glasses, hearing aids or dentures we ask that you keep them in the appropriate containers when not in use.  We will make every effort to safeguard your personal property; however, the hospital cannot assume responsibility for personal items lost or damaged during your hospital stay.
